I have known Dr. Maredia Warren for many years through our work together as organists and church choir directors and also through our collegial work as fellow high school choral directors in New Jersey. She is now on the faculty of New Jersey City University and I was invited by her to present a workshop on World Drumming in the Classroom. I have always felt honored to be able to work with her in any capacity.
Nicholas Santoro was my chairperson for thirteen of my seventeen years at Arts High School. He helped facilitate the changes in the program which resulted in a stronger choral department. He was always a supporter and advocate for new ideas. I am indeed grateful for having been able to work with him.
The letters from parents and students are from the Park Ridge School District in Park Ridge, New Jersey, where I teach world drumming, handchimes, and choir in the middle and high schools.
